Inkjet Paper vs Laser Paper

Inkjet Paper or Laser Paper This is one of the most common errors we see customers make, using paper make for an inkjet in a laser class machine and vice versa.

Basically, the paper is labeled inkjet or laser for a reason. The major differences between the two classes of paper is that inkjet paper is made for ink. Laser paper is made to withstand the heat applied by fuser units in laser machines as well as toner (and in some cases, wax). The biggest usage that causes the biggest problem is inkjet labels being fed through a laser machine. This scenario is almost always a LOSS for the user. Inkjet labels are usually on store shelves right beside the laser labels. The inkjet labels are usually significantly cheaper than their laser counterparts. However, inkjet labels are NOT and should NOT be fed through a laser machine and exposed to the heat used in laser machines. Labels also cause issues with the static charges used for transfer toner and separating paper at certain stages in the paper path. Labels will stick to the imaging drums, transfer belts/rollers and the fuser rollers. All of these situations can lead to costly repairs.

So keep in mind that if you are using an inkjet printer, purchase good quality inkjet paper to minimize jamming and prolong the life of your machine.

If you are using a laser machine, purchase good quality laser paper to minimize jamming and prolong the life of your machine.

Sounds simple enough, right?
